Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors
March Pastor’s Column
Lent begins on March 5th.
Lent is the season of preparation for the celebration of Easter. The good news of Jesus resurrection is the foundation of our faith.
Each year, we take seriously the work of opening our hearts and focusing our minds on the meaning and significance of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. We undertake this work through personal spiritual practices and gathering in worship.
This year, we have a new opportunity for worship with the Wednesday Evening Service. Each Wednesday evening during Lent at 7 p.m., there will a contemplative service. The sanctuary will be lit by candlelight. Music will be playing as people enter the sanctuary. The first ten minutes of the service will be dedicated to sitting in quiet reflection.
All of the services will focus on a different aspect of healing. There will be readings from the Gospels, as well as the Psalms. There will be prayers of intercession for the needs of others, and prayers petition for our own needs.
The Wednesday Evening Service will provide a different experience of worship from Sunday morning. It is the hope that those attending the service will receive refreshment and renewal. Please invite family, friends and neighbors to join us on Wednesdays during Lent.
Grace and peace in Christ Jesus,
Pastor Cathy Morris
