Mission and Vision

Mission:

As a faith community, we help people fill their spiritual hunger by relating to God as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Vision:

1. Help people deepen their relationship with God.

2. Live our faith/trust in God by embracing the diversity in the members of the body of Christ - I Corinthians 12.

3. Love our neighbors by supporting people inside and outside our Church community.

Support includes:

o Ministering

o HelpinglAiding

o Relieving misery

o Reaching out in fellowship

Distinctive Role of DUMC:

We can’t be all things to all people. Characteristics, which particularly distinguish us from other organizations, are:

· God is central. We share and support each other’s journey with God.

· We appreciate and include spiritual, ethnic, and cultural diversity.

· Our United Methodist tradition.

Target Groups for Growth:

While we welcome and nurture all who walk through our doors, we believe we should intentionally reach out to the following groups:

· People seeking God and Christian fellowship in Dixon and in the surrounding communities.

· People who are newer to Dixon.

· Young adults (ages 20-30 years old)
